Dear Chávez Community,
We are pleased to announce the formation of the César Chávez PTA! At the March 8, 2017 meeting about the parent group structure, parents, caregivers, staff, teachers and administration received a presentation from the Oregon PTA. Lisa Kensel (Portland PTA Council President), Jaime Cale (Martin Luther King Jr School PTA President), and Ginger Huizar (Roseway Heights PTA) discussed the benefits of having a PTA.
The Chávez Community unanimously voted to create a new PTA at César Chávez. The following interim officers were selected:

Amber Clark, Interim César Chávez PTA Treasurer
Leah Hinson, Interim César Chávez PTA Secretary
We are working quickly to learn about Oregon PTA and how the César Chávez PTA can best support our school community. We are currently creating an agenda for our next meeting planned April 5, 2017. The agenda will include a vote on our standing rules and selection of a nominating committee for leadership. Permanent leaders will be elected in May. Anyone interested in a leadership role should attend the meeting on April 5th or reach out to current leadership.
