Welcome and Call to Order by chair, Keiona Connor. Quorum established.

Coach Balto would like signatures to prompt Chavez School administration to create Safe Streets, block off 5th grade entrance

Guest speaker: Lina. Yes for Teachers, Yes for Kids. Get out the vote to renew 5 year levy to fund 800 positions in PPS. 

Ms Wilde, Media Specialist, is looking for volunteers to help the Literacy Committee spend $2000 for spanish non-fiction books. Needs help reviewing what we have vs what we can buy. Also requested PTA pay registration for Oregon Battle of the Books $65 + 65 (two levels) + $20 for additional grade levels equals $190 for 6 grades. Rest of the program is covered by donations. Leah Hinson: motion to pay for the registration fee for OBOB. Seconded. Motion passes.
 
Kinder Conexiones. Open to all parents/kinder parents. Community art for kinders. 5:30 – 7pm in the art room.   

Vote on PTA standing rules – standing rules can be found online or ask for copy. July 2019 – July 2021. Keiona added as signee, new date amended. Amy Gilkey made a motion to approve standing rules as written. Seconded. All in favor, motion passed unanimously.
 
Auction committee: Meeting in 3 weeks. Moving away from using money only for covered play structure, survey teachers/staff on what we should spend money on. Vote at another meeting, possibly November. 

Equity group update: reading Settlers: Mythology to Proletariat. Sunday, Oct 20. Sam Lumsy workshops for restorative justice in early November. Pie Fundraiser – rolling out after RFTC.

Literacy Committee: books for shelves on Weds 10/9. Dyslexia awareness poster. 

Fundraising Comm. meeting Oct 23, Weds 6-7:30 @ Leah’s house. 

Communications – submit bio to Shona and any content for blog

Treasurer’s Reports: July 1 – June 30 fiscal report attached. On track for spend/income.
 
Announcements: volunteers needed for movie night, harvest festival, shopping. Adjourned 7:15pm. 
Next PTA General Meeting: Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 5:30 – 7 pm
