On Friday, February 1st, 2019, a team of community members met to discuss project ideas for using a $2000 grant the school has from America Walks towards improving pedestrian safety and encouraging active transportation to school. The following are four projects the group decided to pursue:
1) painted crosswalks at strategic locations in the school parking lot
2) “daylighting” the corners of N Haven Ave and N Willis Blvd
3) create a safe waiting area outside northwest (kindergarten) doors to building
4) ‘no idle’ campaign for cars around school property
Please share any comments, suggestions, concerns, and/or design ideas you might have for the grant, a suggestion box is in the school office. If you would like to join an email list to receive updates on the grant and opportunities to get involved please submit your name and an email address where can contact you. Communications will also be shared through the PTA’s website and Families Facebook page, robo-calls, school newsletters, and the school website.
