    1. Auction planning/discussion – PTA members discussed what the auction funds can go toward. Funding discussion around field trips and continuing to support more community events. Kara Johnson and Lindsay Jensen have offered to help out as have LaQuisha Minniweather and Amanda Ribeiro. Daniel expressed support behind increasing the number of community building events as we are all adjusting to life after the Covid shutdowns.
  1. Treasurer’s Report – Blake Goud presented the treasurer’s report.
  2. Committee Updates
    1. Transportation and Safety – Blake discussed an upcoming Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day on November 14th. Biking and walking school buses have become a sensation recently. The Portsmouth Neighborhood Association and Community Cycling Center have been working on applying for a grant from Malarkey (there is money set aside for grants for the community impacted by pollution at the company) – the grant they are applying for is a $60,000 grant which they are hoping would help fund 2 time per week walking and biking to Chavez and Rosa Parks schools. For the upcoming walk to school day on November 14th, Daniel suggested we offer coffee to parents when they get to the school as an incentive. Anyone interested in helping with the Ruby Bridges Walk to School day can reach out to Blake at treasurer@cesarchavezpta.org. More information can be found here: https://rubybridges.foundation
    2. Run for the Cyclones update – Leah Hinson reported that first grade classes raised the most money for the Run and they will all get a pizza party, and the house of Menchu raised the most in middle school and they will get a pizza party. The run raised over $7000. T-shirts will hopefully be ready early in the new year.
    3. Literacy – Leah discussed a request we have received from Ms. Prahl. She is looking for volunteers to do small group reading in her classroom and other teachers are looking for support as well with reading. More information with a more formal request will be sent out when we have more information. Our PTA has $1000 budgeted to Literacy. We also discussed possibly getting gift cards for volunteers as incentives to help out on this effort.
  1. Announcements – Veronica discussed the below announcements. Also discussion with Ms. Johnson around the Identity Social Emotional Learning Unit that was done at the school this quarter. This will culminate in a celebration of identity at the school tomorrow at 1:45. K-5 kids will parade through middle school and middle school will parade through K-5. The kids  are making flags to carry to celebrate their identity.
